Restoration Process
Are your headlights yellow, hazy, or foggy, reducing visibility at night or on rainy days? You've come to the right place! There's no need to replace them. Read our process below to see how restoring your headlights can make them look brand new again.
Our Full Headlight Restoration Process
In our headlight restoration process, we eschew the use of restoration kits. Instead, we meticulously perform a comprehensive 7-8 step procedure involving wet sanding, polishing compound, and the application of ceramic coating for ultimate protection.
The Process
1
Sanding with 800 grit: This initial step breaks down oxidation and removes yellow buildup from the headlights, resulting in a noticeable slurry.
2
Sanding with 1,000 grit: Higher grit sanding is employed to refine sanding marks and reduce oxidation.
3
Sanding with 1,500 grit: At this stage, sanding marks become lighter, and improved clarity is evident in the headlights.
4
Sanding with 2,500 grit: Further sanding is done to enhance clarity.
5
Sanding with 3,000 grit: The final wet sanding step ensures exceptional clarity.
6
Compound Polish Headlights: Utilizing a machine polisher with cutting pads and compound, we eliminate sanding marks.
7
Polish the headlights: This step involves fine polishing to maximize clarity.
8
Protection: To safeguard the restored headlights, we apply a 1-2 year ceramic coating for durable protection.
Headlight Restoration FAQ
Do you update my car's Carfax report?
Yes, we do! With every detail, your Carfax report receives an update, ensuring its value is accurately reflected
Do you come to my house/location?
We provide both mobile and shop-based car detailing services. However, we do not offer headlight restoration services at your location. We require your vehicle to be brought to our shop. We offer free pick up and drop off for your convenience.
Can you restore any headlights?
While we do offer headlight restoration, like our other detailing services, there are limitations. If the damage or oxidation is internal, we can only restore them to the best of our ability.
How long does this service take?
The duration of the service depends on the size and condition of the headlights. Typically, it can take anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours to complete.
Why do my headlights get so dull and hazy?
Headlights do not have as strong clear coats as the paint on your vehicle. Exposure to the valley heat can accelerate the deterioration of the clear coat on headlights, leading to dullness and haziness over time.
How can I keep my headlights in good condition?
Regular maintenance can help prolong the clarity of your headlights. Parking in shaded areas and applying wax or sealant every 3–5 weeks can help protect them from further damage. After we restore your headlights, we apply a ceramic coating for added protection.
